We\u2019ve written before about what to do if you see an accident<\/a>, but what causes accidents in the first place? In this blog we are looking at some of the top causes of car accidents. Drunk Driving<\/h3>\n

More than a quarter of traffic-related deaths in the United States in 2016 were related to drunk drivers. That includes driver and passenger deaths, but also pedestrians. When it comes to drinking and driving, or taking drugs other than alcohol, the best idea is to not do it.<\/p><\/div>\n

Distracted Driving<\/h3>\n

Whether its your phone or a wonderful conversation, distractions while driving can be deadly. Accord to some statistics from 2013, 10 percent of drivers in fatal accidents were distracted and almost a quarter of accidents can be linked to things like texting and driving.\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Speed limits vary<\/a>, but they are there to keep drivers going at a safe speed. Going too fast, and doing things like changing lanes too quickly or tailgating can all add up to an accident. Running red lights or stop signs and unsafe lane changes are other things that can cause an accident.<\/p>\n

Weather and Nature<\/h3>\n

While lots of accidents are caused by driver error, there are some weather conditions that can make it hard to keep control on the road. Some of the biggest accident causers are ice, snow, potholes, fog and animals like deer trying to cross the road.<\/p>\n
