Steps to Change a Flat Tire

When you have a flat tire, the first thing to do is move away from the traffic and clear the road for other vehicles. Now, park your car on a level surface and ensure that the parking brake is engaged and the car will not begin rolling off mid-tire change.

The next step is to locate the spare tire and the tool kit. This should usually be in the cargo space of your car. Locate the same and slowly roll the spare tire towards the side of your flat tire. Fix the jack in the crevices near the flat tire, and using a wrench, slowly rotate the nuts by one turn. Remove the hubcap prior to this if the vehicle has one. Now, raise the car using the jack until the tire lifts off the ground surface.

Use the wrench again to remove the nuts altogether and free the wheel. Slowly lift and pull the tire towards you, and it should come off quickly. Set it down carefully and pick up the spare tire. Place the spare tire onto the nooks, and once it falls onto the correct notches, replace the nuts and tighten them by one turn.

Lower the jack until the wheel touches the surface and then tighten the nuts all the way using the wrench. Replace the hub cap, and your flat tire problem is resolved. Ensure that the flat tire and the tool kit are kept in the space under the cargo area and optimal tire pressure is present in the tire.
