If you are looking for something fun and interesting to do on a budget, some of these free Labor Day weekend 2017 events in Austin TX might be right up your alley. From museums to movie showings, there are plenty of strange and wonderful things to do in our city for Labor Day.
Bullock Museum H-E-B Free First Sunday
Every first Sunday of the month, Austin residents and visitors can enjoy free exhibit admission at the Bullock Museum thanks to H-E-B Free First Sundays. On September 3, 2017 explore the Story of Texas, artifacts from the 17th century French ship La Belle, the Rise and Fall of Prohibition, and play video games at Pong to Pokemon. The museum is open 12 –5 p.m.
Austin Film Society
While many film screenings and events presented by the Austin Film Society have a ticket fee, we’re pretty sure that the presentation “Daytime After Dark with Amanda Reyes“, which offers information on a slice of television history, will be free. This presentation is just under two hours long, and beings at 7 p.m. at the Austin Public Studio 1 (1143 Northwestern Ave) on Labor Day, Sept. 4, 2017. We haven’t seen this presentation, but it deals with slasher films so we assume it is good for adults only. You should get tickets ahead of time.
