Power group offer studies about how satisfied owners they are with their vehicles, and how those models have performed. So what are the most dependable car brands?
Industry improves 9 percent from 2017 to 2018 Study
The J.D. Power U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study surveys owners of three-year-old vehicles to see how many issues they have had in the last 12 months. For the 2018 study, models from the 2015 model year were evaluated in eight categories. Overall, the automotive industry saw an increase of 9 percent, which is a really impressive improvement across the board.
Most Dependable Brands for 2015
Some of the most dependable cars on the road are luxury brands. Lexus ranked at the top for the seventh year in a row, while Porsche came in second. However, non-luxury brands are also advancing significantly.
2015 Kia Rio named Most Dependable Small Car
2015 Chevy Malibu named Most Dependable Midsize Car
2015 Buick LaCrosse named Most Dependable Large Car
Buick models offered the best dependability outside of luxury brands, closely followed by INFINITI, Kia, Chevrolet, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan and Honda, in that order. Kia’s fifth place finish represented its best rankings ever (meaning that a 2015 and later Kia is a great investment) while the 2014 Toyota Camry took last year’s most dependable award.
